Stuff people ask
Do you really cover all of Victoria?
Yes. Melbourne metro is booked week to week. Geelong, the Peninsula, Ballarat, Bendigo and Gippsland run on regular scheduled trips. For the far north and west — Mildura, Wodonga, Horsham, Portland — we take larger jobs and quote travel upfront so there are no surprises.
Is there a callout fee?
No. Quoting is free and there's no callout charge. Because of that, every booking has a two-hour minimum — it stops the fifteen-minute jobs eating the day. Most people find two hours clears three or four things off the list anyway.
How small a job will you take?
Two hours is the minimum booking — and no job is too daft to ask about. Fair warning though: have a wander round with a notepad first. Everyone starts with one job and finds six. A half day works out far better value once you do.
How does online booking work?
Pick 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours, choose a date and a morning or afternoon arrival, tell us what's on the list and pay for the hours online. You get a confirmation straight away and a text when we're on the way. Anything over eight hours we come out and quote first.
What if I need to cancel?
No problem with 24 hours' notice — cancel or move the booking for free. Inside 24 hours the slot is already yours and the time is charged. If we finish early, the unused time isn't refunded, so have a couple of extra jobs ready.
What counts as an emergency?
Anything that's unsafe or getting worse: storm damage, a fence or carport down, a break-in, a burst pipe, a roof letting water in. Ring 0418 885 524 any hour. We make it safe, photograph it for your insurer, and quote the permanent fix.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — a qualified builder, registered as a building practitioner in Victoria, with $20m public liability insurance. Certificates are available on request, and agents and owners' corporations get them with the first invoice.
Do you supply materials?
Yes. Materials are itemised on the quote at cost. If you'd rather supply your own, that's fine too — just have them on site before we arrive.
How soon can you start?
Metro jobs are usually within the week, sometimes sooner. Regional jobs are scheduled around the next run to that area — you'll be given a confirmed date, not a maybe.
Do you work with real estate agents and owners' corporations?
Regularly. Work orders can come by email or through your portal. Every job comes back with before and after photos and an itemised invoice.
What about after-hours or emergency work?
Emergency make-safe runs 24/7 — ring any hour and the phone gets answered. The after-hours rate is confirmed on the phone before we leave the driveway, so you know the cost first. Commercial jobs can be booked after hours or on weekends to avoid disrupting trade.
How do I pay?
Online bookings are paid by card when you book — that's it, no invoice chasing. Quoted jobs are bank transfer or card, invoiced the evening the job finishes with 7 days to pay. Larger projects run on a payment schedule agreed before work starts.
